Historically, the purple represents justice and dignity and the green represents hope. This is a not-for-profit project and these gift cards are designed for one purpose - to fill them with words of appreciation, admiration and support and then pass them along to friends, family and strangers.

This special project was created for the purpose of inspiring and uplifting women from all around the world. International Women's Day is a time to celebrate women and all that we are. This Inspired gift card set comes with six cards, 2x the love heart, 2x the circle of life and 2x the flower. Pass each and every gift card onto family members, friends and even strangers! Simply write something you love about them, why you admire them, thank them for something or tell them why they make you smile.

The inspiration behind our female empowerment movement...
Women are inspirational in so many weird and wonderful ways and what we love is that each woman is so entirely different to the next! International Womens Day has been celebrated since 1975 and we were inspired to create our own movement that was going to create a huge and inspiring impact.
Writing cards to loved ones has almost become a forgotten art but nothing is more touching and heartfelt than a note that has been hand written and carefully thought out. It was for this reason that we designed our International Womens Day project around spreading beautiful notes into the world and encouraging a chain reaction that helps to inspire women from all walks of life.

Female empowerment movement - The story behind the art...
Our International Women’s Day project first kicked off in 2019 and we had an overwhelming amount of women from all over the world become involved (895 to be exact)! The purpose of this not-for-profit project is to fill each of our International Womens Day inspired gift cards with a note showing thankfulness, encouragement, love, appreciation, empowerment or support before passing them onto different women in your life whom you love and admire.
We’ve had so many women reach out to us to share their stories about why International Womens Day is important to them and also to let us know that the cards that they passed onto their friends and family brought plenty of smiles, hugs and tears of happiness. We’ve really loved seeing where in the world our gift cards have ended up and who they’re inspiring and we can’t wait to see where this years International Womens Day cards end up!

The three cards in our International Womens Day Gift Card Collection were all drawn on the same day using a mix of olive and amethyst coloured pens. The designs for our ethical gift cards are always drawn onto 100% recycled paper using non-toxic pens, and these gift card were no exception. Once all three of the designs were complete, we then sent them to our local printer in Brisbane to be created into gift cards.
Upon receiving them back, we hand fold each once and do a quality control check to ensure that each card is of the highest standard. Each of our designs are printed in small batches to ensure that we are maintaining a high quality, sustainable and ethical product and to also avoid the detrimental world of mass production.
Once our International Womens Day Gift Cards have been entirely transformed from the design phase to the finished product, we store them inside our rainforest workshop until someone like you comes along to place an order…

Sustainable shipping & packaging - From Sophia. to you...
While all our products are created with the highest sustainable and ethical standards, it is also important to us how our orders are packaged and shipped. Plastic packaging is an absolute environmental disaster and so we opt to use boxes and envelopes that are made with 100% recycled materials. This ensures that the trees that were cut down to make the paper and cardboard, are kept out of landfill for another cycle and can hopefully be repurposed into another new product.
Once you’ve received the order and you’re finished with the packaging – all you have to do is place it into the recycling bin again! We also choose to use natural and recycled materials for packaging because there is an extreme excess of plastic pollution on earth already and we are passionate about reducing our impact at every step of the way. We also guarantee that your order will be shipped using Sendle, because every single one of their deliveries is made entirely carbon neutral.

International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women - while also marking a call to action for accelerating gender balance.
The first International Women's Day occurred in 1911, supported by over one million people. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. IWD is not country, group or organization specific.
Gloria Steinem, world-renowned feminist, journalist and activist once explained "The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organisation but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights."

About our female empowerment movement...
Last year, 895 women from 8 different countries joined in and became inspired by our empowering project and it was so wonderful to see so many beautiful women coming together to celebrate International Womens Day. As part of last years project, we featured 100 women from around the world and shared their empowering stories. Each and every one of them had an inspiring tale to tell and a beautiful piece of advice to pass onto you. From California to Kenya, these women came together to be part of this project and to help inspire thousands of women from across the globe.

Collect a selection of purple flowers and beautiful greenery to create an International Women’s Day inspired bouquet of flowers and attach your gift card using a cute ribbon

Choose a few favourite photos of women who have made a difference in your life and paste the photo inside the front cover of the card before writing a meaningful message on the other side
