Our Ethical Easter Tableware Collection - Copper Easter Baskets
Your Easter celebrations will look more beautiful than ever with these handcrafted copper Easter baskets scattered over the table and filled to the brim with chocolate eggs. The kids will also love venturing into the garden with them while on a quest to find the treats that the Easter bunny has hidden. We created these stunning pieces because we want to add a little sustainable “shine” to your day!
The inspiration behind our ethical Easter tableware...
We were inspired by the Easter tradition of venturing into the garden in the early morning to hunt for chocolate eggs amongst the flowers and realised that there were no stylish Easter baskets available that are also sustainably and ethically created. It’s no secret that the creation of waste and over manufactured items increases around times like Easter and Christmas and so we wanted to create a collection of products that are made readily available to our community which not only utilise recycled materials but also support every aspect of our sustainable and ethical goals. We know it can be hard to find beautiful, zero waste items but now you can stop searching…
Our ethical Easter tableware - The story behind the art...
If you were to ask one hundred people what their favourite childhood memory of Easter is, we can almost guarantee that all of them would mention Easter egg hunts. Because of this prominent tradition, we thought it was time to start creating beautiful baskets that can be used year after year without contributing to landfill or a negative environmental impact, kept as a memento of childhood memories and can also be used throughout the year for other purposes. We also wanted to share a little reminder that all foil Easter egg wrappers can be recycled so make sure you save each one, bundle them up into a big ball at the end of the day and place in your recycling bin. It’s vital that they’re combined together, as individual wrappers placed in the bin won’t be picked up during the recycling process. Happy Easter!
Wondering how our ethical Easter tableware is created?
Due to our entire collection of copper homewares being crafted with strands of 100% recycled copper wire, there is a time consuming preparation process we go through before the Copper Easter Baskets are ready to create. Each piece of copper needs to be stripped and untwisted prior to use and also checked for any knots or bumps in the strand. Once the copper has been prepped for use, we then get to work to weave our Easter baskets to life. We’ve designed a unique weaving strategy which ensures maximum durability and strength while also creating a beautiful and entrancing pattern. Each basket takes an average of 15 hours to create and the design is finished off with a single, woven copper handle to make it easy for carrying and storage. Once the basket has been completed, we then check for any misplaced strands of wire and any discrepancies in the design to ensure that it has been perfectly created just for you…
Sustainable shipping & packaging - From Sophia. to you...
Once we’ve received your order at our Brisbane based workshop, we’ll get to work creating your made-to-order Copper Easter Basket using the above process. With the bowl then completed, we place it inside a recycled cardboard box (while it might not look the prettiest, this is just one of the ways that we are helping to reduce waste and carbon emissions throughout Australia) and make sure that it is protected by surrounding it with sheets of recycled newspaper. We also include a special invitation for you to join The Sophia. Sisterhood of Sustainability – this is a beautiful community which we’re sure you’re going to want to be part of.
While being a member of this community, you’ll have the chance to be inspired by women from all around the world, share your own eco advice, enter exclusive competitions, become involved in our events and projects and plenty more… Once your order has been fully packaged and is ready to ship, we then use Sendle to deliver it entirely carbon neutral to your door. We also remove 100 pieces of rubbish from the environment on your behalf and plant one tree for every shipment of products. These are just a few of the ways we are helping to reduce our impact on the environment while simultaneously giving back to the community.
