ABOUT OUR MISSION: WHY WE CREATE IN A SUSTAINABLE & ETHICAL WAY

The Sisterhood of Sustainability was founded in Brisbane, Australia in 2016 by a wild hearted, barefoot dreamer – Sophie Mulheran. It was through a beautiful passion for both creativity and taking care of the wilderness that this inspiring and empowering brand was born. Since launching, it has always been our mission to revolutionise the homewares and stationery industry by handcrafting items that are sustainable, ethical and are built to last generations whilst inspiring and empowering women to live in a conscious and earth friendly way by providing beautiful and zero waste alternatives to everyday moments and products.

Through every little thing that we do and create, we're dedicated to giving back to the environment and community while inspiring beautiful people from around the world to walk a little lighter...

DESIGNING AND CREATING

Most of our designs are inspired by nature in some way, whether it be the moonlight sparkling on the ocean tides, wildflowers blooming in the hinterland or stunning sunsets in the mountains. That inspiration is then transformed into a piece of art by drawing on recycled paper to create our gift cards, drawing directly onto the cover of our journals, notebooks, diaries and notepads or onto a circular template to create our unique, mandala plates. Our other products and designed utilise a more minimalistic process and instead of drawing or painting, the process of creating our copper homewares and organic linen pieces are the art themselves...

SUSTAINABLE PROCESSES

It has been our aim from the very beginning to have the least amount of impact on the planet and so we've implemented several unique processes to ensure that we're giving back in everything that we do and create. This includes avoiding mass production by creating one-of-a-kind items or making small batches of products, utilising 100% recycled and sustainable materials to bring our creations to life and investing 10% of profits directly back into our reforestation and rubbish cleaning projects.

EARTH FRIENDLY PACKAGING

After receiving your order we carefully and lovingly package your order into either a handmade cardboard box which has been crafted from 100% recycled cardboard or a sturdy envelope which has been made with recycled brown paper. While the packaging might not look the prettiest, this in one of the ways we are helping to reduce landfill and prevent deforestation. We'd love to see you reuse the packaging for a third time! We'll also include a personalised and handwritten note welcoming you into The Sisterhood of Sustainability Community and thanking you for your sustainable and ethical purchase (along with a few extra little surprises) P.S - You'll have to make a purchase to find out what they are!

CARBON NEUTRAL SHIPPING

To ensure that our entire process is as eco-friendly as possible, from the design phase right up until the order arrives at your front door, we use Sendle which is an Australian owned courier company whom are entirely carbon neutral. They ensure this by partnering with South Pole Group to offset the emissions from every parcel that is picked up and delivered by Sendle. They are currently supporting conservation projects in the Annya State Forest. Not only are our parcels sent entirely carbon neutral, but here at The Sisterhood of Sustainability, we also remove one hundred pieces of rubbish from our waterways and bushland on behalf of each customer and plant one tree for each shipment.
